The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin Sharma

This book is for those who love non-fiction or fiction. It's an alluring tale about about discovering your dreams and taking hold of your destiny. Robin Sharma is such an inspiration. He's a lawyer turned self-help motivator and....Canadian! This was probably my first 'self-improvement' and 'mindfulness' book that I ever read. It sparked the to urge to discover more, learn more and find more about what I wanted from my own life.

This book will lend the lessons of how to:

  • Master your mind... “Everything is created twice, first in mind and then in reality”

  • Follow your purpose.

  • Practice Kaizen...the Japanese method for improvement and optimization. “Success cannot be pursued; success ensues. It flows as the unintended by-product of efforts concentrated in the direction of a worthy cause.”

  • Live with discipline. “Wage war against the weaker thoughts that have crept into the palace of your mind. They will see that they are unwanted and leave like unwelcome visitors”

  • Respect your time.

  • Embrace the present.

The lesson from 'the monk' is that success on the outside begins within.

Robin Sharma didn't stop here with this amazing book. When he wrote this book he was working as a litigation lawyer. He worked hard to self publish this book after many, many people who 'knew what they were talking about' told him basically "don't quit your day job". Thankfully he didn't listen to them and he published the book anyways in an overnight print shop. It went on to be a #1 Best Seller and sell over four million of copies in 51 different languages.

He then quit his day job and went on to being one of the worlds top motivational and leadership experts and has sold more than 15 million books including: The Greatness Guide, The Saint, the Surfer, and the CEO: A Remarkable Story About Living Your Heart's Desires, Discover Your Destiny, The 5 AM Club (which I am so desperately trying to be a part of...so far I am a proud member of the 6:35 AM Club...but I'll get there - baby steps!), and my most recent book gifted to me by a wise friend - The Everyday Hero Manifesto: Activate Your Positivity, Maximize Your Productivity, Serve The World.

I'd also like to point out that this guy is obviously doin' something right... With over 25 years worth of pictures available to browse through on Google...this guy hasn't aged at all really. So I want whatever Kool-Aide he's drinking cuz it obviously is working some kind of magic.

So enjoy this easy-to-read amazing self-improvement book disguised as a really good novel. You won't be disappointed.

Great Quotes from The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin Sharma:

“Self-mastery and the consistent care of one’s mind, body, and soul are essential to finding one’s highest self and living the life of one’s dreams. How can you care for others if you cannot even care for yourself? How can you do good if you don’t even feel good? I can’t love you if I cannot love myself.”

“People who study others are wise but those who study themselves are enlightened.”

“Saying that you don’t have time to improve your thoughts and your life is like saying you don’t have time to stop for gas because you are too busy driving. Eventually it will catch up with you.”

full disclosure: links to the amazon marketplace mean that if you click it and purchase something, you will not be charged extra in any way...I pinky swear...I will however receive a small kick-back as a thank from Amazon for giving them a 'shout out' and any earnings will contribute to the coffee and wine required for inspiration for this blog.
