Bedtime Therapy for the Soul & Imagination

ree

We read with our kids every night...not to improve literacy, but to improve connection.

I love to read to our kids. But then again I love to read. However, even if I didn't I think it's just a 'smart parent' thing to do and even if it's just for the one selfish reason that our children never whine and complain about bedtime....as long as we phrase it this way, "okay kids it's time to get ready to go read some stories!". And yeah, brushing teeth still makes me want to pull my hair out and the excuses and procrastination that ensues around the bathroom is enough to make me wish I would have poured a larger glass of wine at dinnertime. But as soon as that last flosser pick gets thrown in the trash...everyone happily marches towards to bedroom and picks a book from the bookshelf.

ahhhhh....story time finally.

Story time gives your kids a chance to breathe slower and calm down after a long day. It's focussing on one thing and letting the rest of the worries and excitement from the day melt away. It gives you a chance to connect with your child. It allows them to feel like nothing else matters in the world except for you and them....ahem...so be sure to put that phone on silent!

Anyhoo.....Mama Therapy's KIDS BOOKSHELF page filled with many of our favorites. Check them out!

And you have any favorites that you believe belong on here too, then shoot me a message and I'd be happy to spread the word!
