Discovering Mantras to Help Heal, Change + Grow.

Mantras are a simple yet powerful tool we can use in our meditations or even just in a mindful moment. It is like using an affirmation. We silently repeat it and as we do it activates different responses in our body. Many popular mantras are in Sanskrit, an ancient Indo-European language of India, but mantras have deep roots in every major spiritual tradition and can be found in many languages, including Hindi, Hebrew, Latin and English.

To understanding how mantras works, it can be helpful to look at the translation of the Sanskrit word.

Manas: meaning mind and tra: meaning tool. This literally translates into “a tool for the mind.” So, into my wellness toolbox it goes.

Each mantra has a sound vibration which echoes within our bodies as we repeat this (either by chanting or silently repeating.) That vibration sinks deeper and deeper into your consciousness, helping you to eventually feel its presence as shakti—or power, throughout our body and mind.

These are a few basic mantras which are easy to use but have powerful effects. Find the purpose which may serve you the most and incorporate the mantra into your meditation or simply have a mindful moment while making your coffee and silently repeat it to yourself.
